Super Bowl 50 Predictions

Jesus Martinez | Main Columnist

The Super Bowl is following a familar line: No #1 Offense vs No #1 Defense. Cam Newton looks to win his first Super Bowl, and usher in a new era in the NFL. Peyton Manning Peyton Manning is familiar with this, as he had a recordbreaking offense in 2013, but the Seahawks were too much, as they demolished 43-8. Now, the Broncos have the Number 1 defense in the NFL, as it is evident due to Peyton Mannings unstable offense. We saw their Number 1 ranking proven in the AFC Championship Game when the Patriots were beaten 20-18. Tom Brady was sacked 4 times and had two interceptions. He got hit 16 times, the most QB hits since 2006! Meanwhile, the Panthers host a No #1 Offense, with MVP Cam Newton leading the charge with an explosive Panthers team, which resembles the 1985 Chicago Bears. However, having a No #1 offense doesn't guarentee Super Bowl winning results. So does the motto "Offense wins games, Defense wins championships" follow suit? Or does Cam Newtons offense dance their way to the Lombardi Trophy? Here are some predictions by our writers:

Jesus Martinez: This will finish out as one of the greatest Super Bowls we have ever seen. Period. Cam Newton is enjoying one of his greatest years as a QB, and it’s clear this team will dominate for years to come. Their defense is ranked #3 in the NFL, and they play with looseness and swagger that no one in the NFL has had. That being said, Peyton Manning is play his last game of his career, and everyone on that team knows that. There are statistics and metrics, but there is one thing you cannot measure in football, and that is the heart, the heart and spirit of a team.
Broncos 24, Panthers 21

Chris Giraldo: Peyton Manning went through one of the most turbulent years of his career, and at the end he is one win away from his second ring. Hollywood couldnt write what we noticed. This will likely be the last game of his career, and a win would immortalize him as one of the greatest QB;s to ever play the game. Their defense is a cut above, as they shut down Tom Brady's offense, in a game which the Patriots were favored heavily.
Broncos 27, Panthers 24

Raul Polomo: Is that even a question? Cam Newton! MVP of the 2015-16 season?!? Panthers all the way.
Panthers 28, Broncos 14

Bailey Bertot: Peyton Manning is about to be taken to school just like he did to Eli his entire career. Panthers win, and if the Broncos do win, it will be because of their defense. Peyton Manning is done, he doesn’t have an arm anymore. They can win if Cam Newton throws three pick 6’s out of sympathy.
Panthers 24, Broncos 16

Xavi Alvarez: Peyton Manning is going to resurrect and go beast mode on the Panthers one more time.
Broncos 41, Panthers 10
