The Number one overall recruit has made his decision, and has decided to play in Ann Arbor and Jim Harbaugh. The 5 star DL boasted over 50 scholarship offers, and towards the end there were only four teams left in the running: Clemson, Michigan, Alabama, and Auburn. There were numerous attempts by Clemson to get the No.1 overall recruit. Former players came by to recruit him, current commits attempted to persuade him to go to Death Valley, claiming he would be the next best DL, succeeding first round pick Vic Beasley Jr. and first round lock Shaq Lawson. Towards the week before signing day, he even took an official visit, in which Clemson even sent his mom a cake. The day before signing day, the list trimmed down to two teams, Clemson and Michigan. He was really interested to play for the Wolverines, as he took an unofficial visit.
The Paramus Catholic product had an excellent senior season, and saw his stock rise because of this. His senior year had 55 Tackles, 13.5 Sacks (14 Junior Year), and 4 Forced Fumbles. Overall, in his career he had 110 tackles and 27.5 Sacks. He shined in the UA All-American Game, having 6 tackles (3.5 Tackles for Loss) and 3 sacks. That game made a statement, and proved his No.1 overall ranking wasn’t a fluke. At the current body frame he has (6’5, 290 lbs.), he is sure to make an immediate impact, and most likely will start day 1. Overall, he is the unanimous vote as the best recruit to come out of the 2016 class. He is billed as one of the best recruits in recent history, but can his hype match the talent he had at high school to the collegiate level?
As for Michigan, they have the best add into what was already a strong 2016 class. It currently ranks 6th nationally and 2nd in the Big 10. Jim Harbaugh has made great progress in his first recruiting cycle, landing a great slew of players. It’s clear that recruits want to play for Harbaugh, as he is an excellent coach with a great resume. For people who don’t know, he brought Stanford back to relevance by bringing them to back-to-back BCS bowls and Top #10 rankings, lead the 49ers to three straight NFC Championship appearances, and created a plethora of talent (Andrew Luck, Colin Kapernick). This Michigan team can certainly contend for a Big Ten title and a National Title as well, but have to beat OSU first.
