ON FIELD
STRENGTHS
|
WEAKNESSES
|
-Great job pressing receivers
^Especially pushing them to the outside and using the sideline as his advantage when receivers go vertical
-Great cover corner
-Good Frame
-Ability to be a ballhawk corner in the league (9 interceptions in two years as starter)
-Fluid movement
|
-Needs to work on turning back and locating the football, in the NFL it is vital to do so. That's why he has been flagged with PI a lot throughout his college career
-Tackling is okay at best
-Pursuit and effort isn’t good and needs to be worked on
|
OFF FIELD
- No issue at all regarding Tankersley
- He has a wife and a kid, which is something to take notice.
- Returned for his senior year to get his degree and win a national title, which he did.

OVERVIEW:
After two successful seasons under the Clemson Football team, many scouts and analysts have been wondering if Cordrea Tankersley is a first round pick. In 2016, the same questions were asked about Mackensie Alexander, and they were answered when he was picked in the second round by the Minnesota Vikings. Although it may be the case, both players are completely different prospects. Tankersley is a very polarizing player. He has the intangibles to succeed in the NFL, but lacks consistency at times throughout the year. That being said, he is one of the best corners in the ACC, if not the country. He is a solid cover corner, as he has the ability to be known as a ball-hawk DB (9 interceptions in 2 years). His ability to press is one of the best in the nation, and he has exceptional ball skills. However, he has more weaknesses than people realize. He gets beat a lot more than you would expect a lockdown corner with amazing coverage skills to be. At the pro level he needs to work on locating the football, since he has been called for PI multiple times. He lacks pursuit and aggression on the field in some cases. In some drafts, he would be a first round pick. But with the loaded depth at the cornerback group, this is not the case. That’s not a knock on him though, he is an NFL ready corner that will be ready to work from DAY 1.
DRAFT PROJECTION: MIDDLE-LATE 2ND ROUND
